Winner of the 2015 University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Concerto Competition and an avid chamber musician, Samantha Haake has participated in numerous summer programs across the United States.  She was a member of the Sorkin International Institute of Chamber Music, the Whirlwind Quintet, the Atlas Quintet, and the Feng Quintet, in addition to frequently performing chamber music with friends.

Miss Haake completed her Performer’s Certificate in Chamber Music and her Master of Music in flute at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  Her bachelor’s degree is in music education from Augustana College. Her primary flute instructors include Jennifer Clippert, Alyce Johnson, Jonathan Keeble, Mary Stolper, Hideko Amano, and Janet Stodd.  Additional musical influences include Bernard, Zinck, Linda Toote, Trevor Wye, and Judith Mendenhall.

While at UWM Miss Haake held the flute teaching assistantship, where her duties included assisting with part assignments, teaching nonmajor students, and students for whom flute was their secondary or tertiary instrument. Miss Haake continues to use these skills in her own private studio where she teaches young students to grow into flourishing musicians.

An avid educator, these experiences as a graduate assistant have solidified Miss Haake’s student-centered teaching philosophy.  Miss Haake maintains an active studio branching from the northern to western suburbs of Milwaukee. Her students consistently receive high marks in their WSMA competitions. With a focus on creating a fun learning environment that encourages children to practice, teaching is on of Miss Haake’s passions. Miss Haake also taught at the Wauwatosa School of Music in Wisconsin, the Highland Park High School marching band in Illinois, and her years of being a flute camp counselor at Midwest Young Artist’s flute camp, also in Illinois. She is currently the flute teacher and Waukesha South High School and helps out yearly with New Berlin – Eisenhower’s marching band.

Samantha is also an active vocalist and choral educator. She helps coach weekly rehearsals of the Milwaukee Jewish Community Chorale in Wisconsin.
